When "performance issues" are really design problems

You’ve heard about Sensory Translation Strategy.
Here’s how it shows up in real workplaces.

What is STS?

Sensory Translation Strategy (STS) is a practical, five-stage framework developed by Sally van Bragt. Instead of treating performance issues as a person problem, it looks at the work system around them, things like instructions, noise and handover processes, and tests small, reversible changes to fix what’s actually getting in the way. It uses low-inference language (facts, not assumptions), needs no diagnostic disclosure, and works for neurodivergent and neurotypical employees alike. In one example, swapping verbal-only instructions for written ones in a noisy environment cut clarification questions by 60%.

How Sally and I work together

Sally leads the consulting and hands-on implementation: mapping the work system with your teams, running micro-experiments, and embedding what works. I bring STS into leadership training, manager coaching and neurodiversity programs, so the people leading your teams understand the framework and can apply it day to day. Together, we help you build inclusion that’s practical, not theoretical.
